The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a standing committee at the University of Dayton established in compliance with federal policy for the protection of human subjects in research.

ATTENTION: UD is transitioning its IRB application system from TeamDynamix to Cayuse Human Ethics. Note:

August 18, 2025- NEW IRB applications must be submitted in Cayuse Human Ethics.

September 15, 2025- CHANGES/AMENDMENTS to approved TeamDynamix studies must be submitted through Cayuse as a “New Submission”.

Applications currently IN PROCESS in TeamDynamix will continue through approval.

Institutional Review Board (IRB) D-1 Fast-Track Classroom Research Application

Request to conduct research in established or commonly accepted educational settings, involving only normal educational practices (regular or special education instructional strategies, effectiveness of instructional techniques, curricula, classroom management methods). Do not use if research is federally funded or if compensation is involved.

Institutional Review Board (IRB) D-2 Fast-Track Survey/Interview Application

Request to conduct anonymous paper surveys, confidential online surveys, or non-sensitive interviews using only adult subjects. This application form may NOT be used if the research is sponsored with federal funds, if prison populations are used, if compensation is involved, or if minors under the age of 18 are involved.

Request federally funded classroom research, surveys, or non-sensitive interviews with adult subjects.

Institutional Review Board (IRB) Non-Exempt Application

Request if your project does NOT fit the description for Fast-Track application forms or general exempt application forms.
