Declare or Change Major, Minor or Concentration

Service Overview

Department chairs and authorized designees use this form to declare, add or drop a major, minor or concentration in the College of Arts and Sciences for students.

Internal transfer policy: Undergraduate students in good academic standing with an established UD GPA are eligible to request a major change. However, some majors have additional requirements that also must be met before declaring.

To initiate a change of major or minor, students should contact the designated point of contact in the new department to review benchmarks and discuss next steps. Delaying a major change until after students have successfully transitioned to college and completed a semester of coursework is believed to improve their chances for long-term success.

All international students: After changing your major, inform the International Student and Scholar Services Office (ISSS) by visiting their office. You will obtain an updated I-20 that reflects the change.

International students sponsored by their governments: If you are sponsored by your government, you must obtain permission from your Embassy to initiate a change of major. By completing this form, you are verifying that you have both communicated with and obtained approval of your change of major from your Embassy.
