Transfer Credit Approval Form

Service Overview

Before registering for courses at another college or university, students in the School of Engineering (SoE) should complete this form to confirm that the credit earned from these courses can be applied toward your University of Dayton degree.

General Instructions:

  • Meet with your academic adviser to review courses prior to submitting this form.
  • You must be currently enrolled at UD as an undergraduate student to apply for transfer credit.
  • Courses taken during Winter or Summer break cannot overlap with the UD Fall or Spring semester.
  • Before submitting this form, consult the transfer institution's course schedule to confirm that the course(s) are offered during the desired semester / term.
  • It is not recommended to register for a course until receipt of the approved School of Engineering Transfer Credit Approval Form.
  • International Students: Consult with ISSS to assure that all guidelines are followed.
  • Transcripts must be from a school that is regionally accredited by one of the following accrediting institutions: North Central Assoc., Middle States Assoc., New England Assoc., Southern Assoc., Western Assoc., or Northwest Commission.

Attachments:

  • You must attach the course descriptions from both the visiting school and UD’s course catalog.
  • If you are registering for courses during a semester in which you are enrolled at UD, you must provide the course schedule with class times for the courses at the visiting school to ensure they will fit within your UD schedule. The schedule must also account for travel time. It will be at the discretion of the Dean’s office whether to allow concurrent courses.
  • SPECIAL NOTE FOR SEMESTER ABROAD: Before submitting this request, visit the Education Abroad office to complete a Course Pre-Authorization Form to attach to this request. The School of Engineering Transfer Credit Approval Form will not be processed without the Course Pre-Authorization Form.
  • Courses taken during Winter or Summer break cannot overlap with the UD Fall or Spring semester.

Credit Transfer Process:

  • You will only receive transfer credit for courses with a grade of a C- or better.
  • Transfer credits will show as “K” grade.
  • Transfer credits will not affect your UD cumulative grade point average.
  • Upon completion of this course work, request an official transcript be sent from the Registrar at the visiting school to UD’s Registrar’s Office by one of the following methods:
    • Official electronic transcript: Email to transcripts@udayton.edu
    • Official printed transcript: Mail to University of Dayton Enrollment Services, 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469-2713
  • Transcripts received without an approved School of Engineering Transfer Credit Approval Form may not apply to your DegreeWorks.
