A softphone is a software-based phone that extends your UD desk phone to your computer or mobile device. UD offers two softphone solutions:

Avaya Agent Desktop is for Contact Center agents managing a departmental phone queue.

Avaya Workplace is for an individual employee who wants to answer their personal UD phone line from another device.

All new Avaya Workplace installations should use Release 10 for laptops and smart phones.

Avaya Workplace: UD Softphone Setup (Release 8)

Release 8 of Avaya Workplace is due to be sunset. Afterwards, Release 10 will become the new installation standard.
