Virtual machines (VM) can be configured in UD's Cyber Range to provide a secure space for learning about and practicing cybersecurity skills. UD faculty, staff and students can request a VM on the range by completing the Cyber Range Virtual Machine Request form.
- If you are on campus, go to https://rapidwindow.servers.udayton.edu. If you are off campus, use UD's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to access RapidWindow.
- Once RapidWindow has opened, you may see a warning message. This is normal and you can proceed to the web page.
- Click Launch vSphere Client (HTML5).

- Login with your University username and password (UD Porches credentials). Do not add @udayton.edu to your user name.

- You must be granted permissions on a VM to login to the range. If you do not have permissions the system will not allow you to login. To request a VM on the range, complete the Cyber Range Virtual Machine Request form.
- When logging in for the first time, you may see an error message saying that you do not have permissions to view the object. Go to the VM & Templates view to find your virtual machine.

- Once you find your machine, you can open the virtual machine, take snapshots and power the machine on or off.

If you have any technological issues with range machines, or problems accessing the machines, call the IT Service Center at (937) 229-3888 or complete the Report a Problem with the Dayton Regional Cyber Range form.
