Qualtrics Core XM is the University of Dayton's web-based platform for creating surveys, collecting data, and analyzing results for academic, research, and administrative activities.
The University's license includes Qualtrics Core XM only. Specialized Qualtrics products, including CustomerXM, EmployeeXM, BrandXM, and ProductXM are not included.

Appropriate Use
Assessment projects: If you plan to conduct an assessment project focused on student experiences, contact Justin Keen, Assistant Provost for Decision Support, for consultation, training, and assistance coordinating your project with other campus assessment activities.
Research projects: Research involving human subjects may require review by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Review the IRB website for guidance before beginning your project.
Choosing Between Qualtrics and Google Forms
Use Google Forms whenever its features meet your project needs. Google Forms is easy to learn, integrates with Google Workspace, and supports surveys limited to University of Dayton users.
Choose Qualtrics when you need advanced capabilities such as:
- Advanced survey logic and branching
- Specialized question types
- Automated reporting
- Text analysis and coding
- Workflows
- Panels and directories
Some instructors also use Qualtrics to teach advanced survey design and research methods.
Because the University's Qualtrics license includes an annual response limit, Google Forms is the preferred option when its capabilities meet your project requirements.
Collaboration
Qualtrics supports collaboration with individual users and Qualtrics Groups, which provide shared access to surveys, contact lists, libraries, and other project resources.
To request a Qualtrics Group, submit a Qualtrics Group Request.

When using Qualtrics documentation, remember that UD is licensed for Qualtrics Core XM (the Survey Platform) only.
