Service Overview

Use this form to request graduate credit hours be transferred to the University of Dayton. 

Before starting this form: Students need to send Official Transcripts directly from the other institution to transcripts@udayton.edu or mailed directly from your institution to:

Students are highly encouraged to meet with their Graduate Program Director or Department Chair before completing or starting this form. In order for you to transfer credits you will be required to provide them documentation for this approval form to be reviewed. They will be able to assist you on course equivalency. 


Note: Students wishing to double count their Bachelor Plus Masters Program (BPM) credits must work directly with their Program Director to process an internal transfer credit form. If you or anyone needs assistance to this please contact UDGradSchool@udayton.edu 

Requests must follow university and program requirements. Please see the graduate catalog for more information. Policies include but not limited to: 

  • Graduate courses that have not been used to fulfill requirements for another completed degree may be transferred from other accredited institutions to the University of Dayton on recommendation from the program and college/school.
  • Only those hours in which the student has achieved a B grade or better will be considered for transfer; no credit will be given for hours graded B- or less. The quality points are not transferred. 
  • Usually, no transfer credit will be allowed for courses taken more than five years previous to matriculation in the student's graduate program at the University of Dayton. 
  • Thesis and dissertation credits are not eligible for transfer.
  • Except at the doctoral level, a maximum of nine (9) semester hours of graduate work may be transferred into a graduate degree program. At the doctoral level, the maximum number of hours eligible for transfer may be extended to one-fourth of the total hours required for the degree, provided that the coursework in the area of specialization is subject to examination prior to admission to candidacy.
