Service Overview
All students who plan to take courses at another institution, via education abroad or Marianist exchange, and wish to apply those credits towards a University of Dayton degree are required to request permission and pre-approval for those credits to be accepted upon successful completion of the coursework (achieving an U.S. equivalent of a C- or above).
General Instructions:
- Meet with your academic adviser to review courses before submitting this form.
- You must be currently enrolled at UD as an undergraduate student to apply for transfer credit.
- It is not recommended to register for a course until receipt of the approved Education Abroad Course Pre-Authorization Form.
Attachments:
- You must attach the course syllabi from the visiting school.
Credit Transfer Process:
- You will only receive transfer credit for courses with a grade of an American C- or better.
- Transfer credits will show as a “K” grade.
- Transfer credits will not affect your UD cumulative grade point average.
- Upon completion of this coursework, official transcripts should be sent from the Registrar at the visiting school to Education Abroad and Away Office by one of the following methods:
- Official electronic transcript: Email to gia@udayton.edu
- Official printed transcript: Mail to University of Dayton Office of Education Abroad & Away, 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469-1701
- Transcripts received without an approved Education Abroad & Away Credit Approval Form may not apply to your DegreeWorks.
This form outlines the selected program of study for the student, and as such is unique and applicable only to the student filling out the form. This form does not guarantee acceptance into a program, nor does it guarantee that the student will ultimately be registered for the courses listed. It is recommended that students seek approval for double the number of courses they intend to take, in order to provide maximum flexibility in the case a course is closed or isn’t offered to the student for any reason.
