Research Mini Grant (RMG) Tier I

Service Overview

Program Officer: Robert J. Wilkens, SoE Associate Dean for Research & Innovation

• This request may be made by SoE faculty who wish to seek funding from a 50/50 cost share by the Dean’s Office and their home department, when start-up and discretionary funding accounts are insufficient (below a $1,000 balance).
• Faculty must serve as PI to this project (priority given to tenure line faculty).
• Limit on Proposals per PI – PI may submit one proposal per AY and may only pick one Tier; PI can only win one Tier II proposal every three (3) years. PI must demonstrate completed deliverables from previous submissions.
• Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
• Five awards will be approved each AY in an amount up to $5,000 each.
• Cost Sharing Requirements – there is a 50% departmental cost share requirement
• Other Budgetary Limitations – Student pay and consumables only, amount is fully loaded; no PI salary, no travel, no infrastructure, no equipment
