Classroom touchpanels allow you to operate various technology items such as a dedicated podium PC, projection systems and personal laptops and can be used for teaching face-to-face, online, or in a blended mode (face-to-face and online simultaneously). Powering on / Powering off the Podium System
- Press the power on / off button on the top left of the Control Panel. The power button flashes during the powering on and shutting down process.
NOTE: Do not press any additional buttons during this time. Wait until the button stops flashing before making another selection.
- Once the power button has stopped flashing it turns blue (powered on) or black (powered off).
Using the Dedicated Podium PC
- Log in with your University username and password and use your 2FA credentials. The podium PC can be used without turning off the projection system.
- To log off, click the Windows Start icon (Windows symbol). Click Profile and choose Logoff. The PC does not need to be shut down.
Adjusting Audio
- Room volume is controlled by the volume up and volume down buttons located on the top right of the touchscreen user panel.
NOTE: Room microphones have separate volume control.
- Press the volume icon button to mute or unmute.
Connecting and Using a Laptop
Securely connect the HDMI or VGA cable to your laptop. If your laptop requires a special adapter, make sure you have it available. Classroom Support does not provide or loan out adapters.
Display and Audio Check for Windows Laptops
- Press the <Windows> <P> keys simultaneously for the projection mode selections.
- Select Duplicate to display the laptop image on the projection screen.
- Make sure the audio source is selected for the room’s projection system. To play media with audio, lower the laptop’s volume and adjust it after the audio connection has been established.
Display and Audio Check for Apple Laptops
- Go to the Control Center or to the Display Options in the system preferences to confirm the desired display settings.
- Select Mirror to display the laptop image on the projection screen.
- Navigate to the top right task bar or open the control center on your Mac. Make sure the audio source is selected for the room’s projection system. To play media with audio, lower the laptop’s volume and adjust it after the audio connection has been established.
Using the Doc Cam
A document camera (doc cam) and the Sphere2 camera-based software are available on the dedicated podium PC.
When using Zoom, share the Sphere2 screen with Zoom participants.
Using the Web Camera
A webcam is available on the dedicated podium PC and can be used with camera-based software.
When using Zoom, choose LiveStreamer 313 as the video source. This allows you to present the image to Zoom participants.

Using Zoom on the Dedicated Podium PC
- Open the Zoom app installed on the podium PC.
- Choose the SSO option.
- Use the domain: udayton.zoom.us
- Meetings can be opened and launched by the Zoom app by clicking the appropriate meeting link in Google Calendar and Isidore.
Audio and Video Sources
All sources should be checked prior to your event to ensure the correct setup.
- Default Zoom audio connections: The system audio is set for the speaker source and can not be changed. The microphone is set to the webcam microphone of the webcam.
- Default video connections: The video source is set to the webcam. Make sure the webcam is not covered by the privacy slider (lens cover).
Using Zoom on Your Laptop
The classroom webcam can only be used with the dedicated podium PC. If you choose not to use the laptop’s built-in webcam, you must bring your own.
- Securely connect the HDMI or VGA cable to your laptop.
- Power on your laptop.
- Power on the projection system and select the input for the HDMI or VGA connected laptop.
- Open your Zoom session.
- Change the audio connection source to the room projection system. Make sure your laptop audio is set to the room projection system for in-person participants. If necessary, connect the microphone source to your preferred microphone device.
- Connect the video source to your preferred video device. To present your screen to online participants, share your screen and choose your preferred sharing option. To display your screen to in-person participants, select the appropriate display option: Mirrored (Apple) or Duplicated (Windows).
