Microsoft 365 is a suite of productivity applications and cloud services that help users create documents, analyze data, communicate, collaborate, and manage information. The software is licensed for individual use in support of university teaching, learning, research, and work activities. 

While Microsoft 365 includes additional collaboration services, the University's supported platforms for email, file storage, collaboration, and video conferencing are Google Workspace, Box, and Zoom.

Faculty, staff and students

Microsoft 365 license availability varies based on your University affiliation. See Microsoft 365 License Eligibility for information about available licenses, eligibility, and when licenses are assigned. 


Get Software

Students

Students may install Microsoft 365 on personally-owned devices at no cost.

  1. Visit the Microsoft 365 portal.
  2. Sign in using your UD username and password.
  3. Open the App Launcher (the 3x3 grid of dots) and select More apps.
  4. Select Install apps, then select Microsoft 365 apps.

  5. Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Faculty and Staff

Microsoft 365 is available for UD-owned computers through Software Center (Windows) or Jamf Self Service (macOS). Contact UDit Client Services if you need assistance.

Microsoft Teams

The University's supported collaboration platforms are Google Workspace and Zoom.

If your department or project requires Microsoft Teams or Microsoft 365 Groups, submit an IT General Help Request. Requests are reviewed to determine whether Teams or Groups are appropriate for the intended use.

File Storage

The University's supported file storage and collaboration platforms are Google Drive and Box.

For departmental or divisional files, use Google Shared Drives or Box. These platforms provide continuity of access and help prevent data loss when employees change roles or leave the University.
