If you’ve recorded a Zoom meeting, take a minute to determine if you actually need to keep the recording. Many recordings that are saved never get viewed. Digital storage often comes at a cost. If you expect to use the recording in the future, pick the storage option below that best fits your situation.
I need to keep the recording, but only for a few months.
Recordings from the Zoom integration with Canvas or Isidore are available by default to your roster through Canvas or Isidore. No action is required. For Zoom sessions created outside of Canvas or Isidore, you can share your recording directly from Zoom.
I would like to make this video available to my students in future semesters.
Zoom recordings of live class sessions are always available during the semester they were created through the Zoom integration with Canvas or Isidore. These typically don’t require ongoing storage because you will deliver a similar class session next semester.
However, if you plan to use Zoom recordings for future semesters (e.g. next year), download them and place them in Warpwire. Videos that remain in Zoom are subject to deletion after 365 days.
I would like to share this recording for non-teaching purposes.
If you want to share your recording with colleagues, staff, or anyone else, your UD associated YouTube account is the perfect delivery vehicle.
- STEP 1: Download your recording from Zoom
- STEP 2: Upload your recording to your UD associated YouTube account.
-
Open your University Gmail account.
-
Click on the Google Apps waffle / chooser and select the YouTube app.
-
Go to the left sidebar and click on the Your videos link.
-
Click on the Create icon located on the upper right corner of the YouTube window then click Upload videos.
-
Click Select Files and locate and select a video. You can also drag and drop the video into the "Upload videos" window.
-
Make the appropriate selections for Details, Video elements, Checks and Visibility options. Click Next after completing each set of options.
NOTE: For the Visibility options, consider using Unlisted for most videos. You can share an unlisted video's URL with other people and place it on a website or Isidore site. The people you share the video with don't need a Google Account to see the video. Anyone with the link can reshare it. For additional information on visibility (privacy) settings, click here.
-
Click Save to complete the video upload.

I would like to archive this recording just in case.
If you’d like to keep your recording for archival or reference purposes, Box is a great place to store it. You’re free to save it to your own computer, but that could take up a lot of space and if your hard drive was damaged, the files would be lost.
- STEP 1: Download your recording from Zoom
- STEP 2: Save your recording to your Box account
-
Open your Box account.
-
Click on your personal Box workspace folder (the one containing your username).
-
Select a location for your video file within your personal workspace folder (i.e. a sub-folder or use the root level of your personal workspace folder).
-
Click on the New + button and choose File Upload.
-
Locate the MP4 (video) file you want to upload.
-
Double click on the file. Box uploads the file into your personal workspace folder or sub-folder.
-
Once the file has been uploaded, it can be shared with other users. Right click on the filename and choose Share and make the appropriate selections. Enabling the Share Link option allows you to copy / paste the link into an email, place it on a website or into an Isidore site.
On second thought, I don’t think I need to keep this recording.
Take a minute to delete your recording from Zoom cloud storage.
