Body
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) creates a secure internet connection that makes a computer think it's actually on the UD network even when it's far from campus.
Whether you're working from home, traveling, or accessing University resources from another off-campus location, we encourage you to make it a standard practice to connect to the VPN. This includes using University-managed computers and, in accordance with the University’s Information Security Policy, personal equipment used for University business.
Using the VPN helps:
- Protect University data through a secure, encrypted connection.
- Safeguard your connection and reduce cybersecurity risks when using networks outside the University.
- Provide secure access to University resources while you're away from campus.
Since the computer is directly accessing UD's network, it should have the same security protections (updated software, anti-virus, etc.) required for on-campus computers.
NOTE: If you're currently connected to UD's legacy VPN solution, RAVPN, you'll need to connect your device to UD's current VPN solution, UDVPN,
by installing the new client.
