If you have been approved for OPT and have updated your employment details, choose the Replacement I-20 option
OPT (Optional Practical Training) is a benefit of F-1 student status that allows you to work off-campus in your field of study to gain practical experience. OPT after you graduate is referred to as post-completion OPT. Post-completion OPT extends your F-1 status even though you are no longer an enrolled student. It also extends the F-2 status of any dependents who are with you.

Extensions are permitted only to complete academic program requirements. The following are not valid reasons for extensions:
• To enroll in extra courses for personal/academic interest or to improve one’s GPA
• To finish minor requirements
• To engage in extra-curricular research
• To finish pending/”in progress” coursework
• To engage in Curricular Practical Training (CPT) after completing all degree requirements (F-1)

Reduced course load
Reduced course load: https://porches.udayton.edu/group/international...

International students must enroll in a full course load during every Fall and Spring semester.
Dropping below full-time enrollment without FIRST obtaining authorization from ISSS will result in the termination of your immigration status.

We recommend also speaking with your academic advisor about how dropping the course(s) will affect your academic plan.

You have two options:

1. If you have any dissertation credits remaining, continue to submit this form. You must be registered for the dissertation credits before the RCL will be approved.

2. If you DO NOT have credits remaining, do not submit this form. Instead, start with Graduate Academic Affairs and submit the Continuing Student form to register for RES 999. You can find the form on the Graduate page of Porches under forms. The form will be forwarded from your academic department to our office for approval.

Transfer out
Transfer out: https://porches.udayton.edu/group/international...

If you are an active F-1/J-1 student orJ-1 scholar wishing to commence a new academic program or scholarly objective at another university, you must request a transfer of your SEVIS record (I-20/DS-2019) following the steps below.

If your courses at UD are already in progress, you must remain registered until your transfer is complete. If you drop your courses before the transfer is completed, you risk violating your immigration status. Dropping courses often has implications for billing. Visit this site: https://udayton.edu/fss/billing/index.php#refun... , to learn about the university's refund policy. Contact Flyer Student Services to see what money, if any, you may owe the university by withdrawing.

You must submit an acceptance letter (students) or invitation letter (scholars) from the new school in order for us to transfer your SEVIS record. This letter must clearly state when classes or the appointment begins. Students: After transferring your SEVIS record, you must also complete the Student Withdrawal and Leave Form to notify other offices of your decision to leave. You will receive instructions for completing this form after we process your transfer request.

You may request a specific transfer date below. This may be useful to students on OPT/STEM OPT who want to maximize their employment time. In most other cases, ISSS will automatically set the transfer date between the end of the current UD semester and the beginning of the new school’s semester. Students working on OPT/STEM OPT: Please be aware that your employment authorization ends on the day your SEVIS record is transferred.

A SEVIS transfer is an immigration procedure only. When ISSS transfers a SEVIS record, it does not free you from any financial, academic, or administrative responsibilities at UD. Registration holds, account balances, etc. will remain on your record even after transferring.

Students on OPT/STEM OPT: Your work authorization ends on the date your SEVIS record is transferred. When selecting a date, consider how much longer you need to work and when classes start at the new school.

Students currently enrolled at UD: ISSS will transfer your SEVIS record after the current semester ends. If you require a specific transfer date, specify that here.
This is usually provided on the new school's transfer in form. Or you can ask your new school's international office for this information. Note: this is different from your SEVIS ID Number.

Authorized early withdrawal: https://porches.udayton.edu/group/international...

If you are taking a leave of absence or withdrawing from the university, you must obtain approval from ISSS before dropping your classes. If you fail to notify our office, your I-20 will be terminated, which could have serious consequences if you wish to visit, study or work in the U.S. in the future.

Before submitting this form, please consider the following:

If you are unable to register full-time, you should submit this form and plan to depart the US. Students cannot stay in the US if they are not enrolled full time. Submitting this form will temporarily deactivate your I-20 allowing you to return in a future semester to resume your studies and immigration status. If approved for an AEW, you must depart the US within 15 days of approval.
