Student Accounts
Graduating students can save UD Gmail to a personal Gmail account before the UD Gmail is deleted with the University account.
Faculty and Staff Accounts
Google Takeout is disabled for all faculty and staff accounts. This change helps prevent the transfer of entire mailboxes or other sensitive university data to external accounts. If faculty or staff require access to Google Takeout for legitimate academic or administrative purposes, exceptions may be requested and will require approval from the appropriate University authority.
NOTE: If you experience any issues while transferring your Gmail, or if you have questions regarding Google Takeout, contact the UDit Service Center at (937) 229-3888 or submit an
IT General Help Request.
Transferring UD Gmail to a personal Gmail account
- Open Google Takeout.
- Choose the data you want to back up and click Next step.
- Choose file type, frequency and destination.
- Click Create export.
Other actions to consider
- Have you created and shared any Google Docs or Sheets from your University account within My Drive? If so, be sure to move these into a Shared Drive to transfer ownership to other collaborators. Otherwise, the file content will be deleted when your account is deleted.
- Download a copy of your Gmail contacts.
