TouchNet: Creating a Product by Copying an Existing Product

Body

Once you create a product, you can copy it to reuse parts like descriptions, options, and modifiers for other similar products. For example, if you’re hosting multiple events with similar features, create the first event, then save time by copying it. You only need to update the features that are different.

  1. Login to TouchNet at https://secure.touchnet.net/central

  2. Go to Applications > Marketplace.

  3. On the left side panel, go to Store > Store Settings and click Products.
  4. Click the Copy button.
  5. Click the drop-down for Copy From Products Status? and select the product status you want to copy, or keep the default option,  All Statuses.
  6. Click the drop-down for Copy From Categories? and select the product categories you want to copy, or keep the default option,  All Categories.
  7. Select the checkbox to the left of the product(s) you want to copy.
  8. Click Select Products.
  9. In Copy to Criteria, enter a stock number or click Assign Random Stock Number.

    1. When entering a stock number, you are limited to 15 characters. You may edit this later to have a maximum of 30 characters.
    2. When entering a stock number, you may add a hyphen ONLY at the end of the number or with only two characters after the hyphen. You may edit this later to place the hyphen in a different location.
  10. Choose a shipping class.

    1. Optionally, change the name. If you don’t, you’ll have two products with the same name.
    2. Optionally, change the price, inventory amount, and web status.
    3. In the Copy Image field, choose Yes or No.
  11. Click Copy. A confirmation message appears.

When you copy a product, it is automatically placed in the Store Home Page category. Once the copy is complete, you can move the product to a different category.
