SPSS - Windows Installation

The installation procedures are valid for both SPSS 27 and previous versions.

NOTE: The activation key for UD-licensed versions of SPSS expires annually. If you've already installed SPSS but received a message that your installation is scheduled to expire, follow these directions to renew an existing SPSS software installation >>

  1. Open a web browser and go to software.udayton.edu​​​​​
  2. Sign in with your University username and password.
  3. Select your operating system (most likely Windows 10 64 bit) then click on the All Available Software link and click on the appropriate version of SPSS.

  4. Scroll to the terms and conditions and click on the I hereby accept... check box. Select the Product Key checkbox.

  5. Click on Retrieve Product Key.

  6. Double-click on the displayed product key and copy the information.
  7. Click Download. Once the download is complete, open it.
  8. When prompted, click Yes to make changes.
  9. Once the InstallShield Wizard for IBM SPSS Statistics window opens, click Next.

  10. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  11. If you are asked to install IBM SPSS Statistics - Essentials for Python check Yes and click Next. (For versions prior to SPSS 27).

  12. Accept terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  13. When the Destination Folder window appears, click Next.
  14. Click Install.
  15. Check the box to Start SPSS... and click on Finish.

  16. Choose Authorized user Licence (I purchased a single copy of the product) and click Next.

  17. Paste the product key (that was copied in step 6) into the Enter Code field and click Next.

  18. Once the licensing is complete, click Finish.
